Sri Lanka’s first ever Green Power supply agreement was signed between Nilwalabase Hydro Power (Pvt.) Ltd, a subsidiary company of Hydro Power International (Pvt.) Ltd and MAS fabric Park Ltd on 2 nd April 2008. Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka joined as the verification agency to recognize the consumption of the power supply.
Under a five year agreement Nilwalabase Hydro Power (Pvt.) Ltd will supply between 2.5 to 4.0 million units of electricity for the MAS factory “Thurulie”, located in the MAS Fabric Park in Thulhiriya. The Green Power supply is one of the last touches to make “Thurulie” a ‘Green’ manufacturing plant.
Nilwalabase Hydro Power (Pvt.) Ltd owned Kiruwana Oya Mini Hydro Power Project at Kotapola, Southern Province. It runs with a capacity of 600kW which is transmitted via the national grid to the Fabric park in Western Province.
