NYEMANGA HYDRO POWER PROJECT

Hydro Power International (Pvt.) Ltd won an international tender for the upgrading of Nyamenga hydro power plant in Burundi after competing international suppliers and contractors in hydro power sector. Before awarding the contact a due diligence term from Burundi comprising Honorable Minister of Rural Development, Honorable Gihimbare Jean Baptiste and General Manager of Hydraulic and Rural Energy, Mr. Fulgence, visited Sri Lanka in July 2005.
Nyamenga hydro power plant has an existing capacity of 1.4 MW with facility to upgrade to 2.8 MW with another two turbine-generator sets. Completion of this plant augmentation is expected the mid June of 2009
